As we celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the founding of our company this year, we thought it was a good time to update our website. Not only is our new site easy to navigate, it provides an abundance of beneficial information. Our new first page provides summaries about the unique characteristics that make our no-pressure, "Joy of Generosity " process so effective in enabling churches to raise record amounts of funds for renovations of facilities and/or new facilities. In addition to tabs for Our Services, Our Team, and References, we have also included 30 issues of our Newsletters, which provide hundreds of ideas about how to increase giving in your church or non-profit organization. If you'd like to "surf" around our site to see what's new, just go to  Hopefully this new site will enable many churches, non-profit organizations, and individuals to not only find us on the Internet but to also find the "Joy of Generosity" by Fund-Raising through Faith-Raising.

See You at Synod... From July 1 - 5th, I will be attending the 28th General Synod of the United Church of Christ, which is being held at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida. General Synods are gatherings of thousands of lay people, delegates, clergy, and denominational leaders, which are held every other year in various cities around the United States. Members gather at General Synod for fellowship, to discuss theology, to renew and re-focus our mission, and to transact the "business" of the denomination. Having been a member of the United Church for all of my life, I look forward to these gatherings as large family reunions, where I can see old friends, renew relationships, make new friends, and catch up on new developments.

This year our booth is right next to the SERRV Booth in the Exhibit Hall. We will be providing complementary, free consultations on how to prepare for effective Capital Fund Campaigns at our booth during this Synod. We'll also be providing our 15th Anniversary appreciation 15% discount on our standard fees for Capital Campaigns to those who sign up for our services while at Synod. General Synod attendees can also pick up complementary copies of our new booklet, 10 Ways to Increase Giving in Tight Financial Times. If you're attending General Synod, drop by our booth to pick up a complimentary copy, or to sign up for a professional, no-obligation consultation, or to just say "Hi."

If you're not attending General Synod, but you would like to have a complementary, free consultation about how your church or non-profit organization could conduct an effective Campaign at this time, write me at or call me toll-free at 888-245-5826 (888-Bill-Van). I look forward to hearing from you.

Some individuals may think that these are tough times for raising funds. But we have found that there is never a genuine shortage of funds to provide crucial services, programs and ministries. Rather there is a shortage of faith in God's abundant providing, a lack of guidance to help people deal with money, and a scarcity of creativity in how to inspire individuals to be generous. We are happy to provide the professional guidance required to create innovative ways to organize campaigns, which can inspire your members to be generous in these tight financial times. Churches that we worked with in the crux of the recession were able to conduct successful campaigns through our "Joy of Generosity" process.

There are 3 major indicators that this is a very opportune time to raise funds: 1. With the stock market moving up, many individuals are seeing that their assets are returning to more comfortable levels. 2. Construction costs continue to be very low 3. Borrowing costs continue to be at all time low levels. Churches that we worked with recently have raised more funds than they anticipated, and have found that they are able to renovate and/or to build new facilities at far lower costs than they expected. We would be glad to review these circumstances in more depth, and to discuss how they may benefit your church or non-profit organization. If you are interested in exploring the possibilities, write us an email or give us a call to set up a time for a complementary, free consultation. Top

Since it was enacted as a part of the legislative session held in December of last year it may have slipped under the radar of many, but in that "lame-duck" session of Congress the Federal Government re-enacted the tax benefit known as the "IRA Charitable Rollover." Many churches and charities may be able to receive significant donations in 2011 because of the re-enactment of this tax avoidance piece of legislation. The "IRA Charitable Rollover" was first enacted in 2006. This tax reduction provision allows individuals aged 70½ or older, who own traditional and Roth IRAs, to be able to distribute directly, or "rollover," donations of up to $100,000 to public charities, without the distribution being included as taxable income.

This allows the distribution to count towards the annual mandatory withdrawal amount for 2011. This charitable rollover lapsed as of January 1, 2010. On December 17, 2010, the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010 was signed into law, extending the IRA Charitable Rollover for 2011. This means that a couple can donate up to $200,000 of required minimum distributions from IRAs directly to charities, without these funds counting as taxable income. This can be very beneficial to individuals of this age, who have traditional or Roth IRAs, and also to many churches and charities who receive these donations.

To qualify as a qualified charitable distribution, the IRA trustee must make the distribution directly to the qualified charity.
Before making any such contribution, be sure to check with your financial advisor or CPA to make sure that you can transfer the funds directly to the charity, and that your contribution can fully satisfy the requirements of this law.  Top
